Milford Township's Memorial Park commemorates the service and sacrifices made by veterans and the establishment of Milford Township on December 2, 1805. Located at the intersection of Oxford Street and Hamilton-Richmond Road, the park serves as a poignant reminder of the dedication made by service members in all branches of service, including the Air Force, the Army, the Coast Guard, the Marines, and the Navy, in both peacetime and in times of war. Recognition of service spans from the earliest days of our country in the Revolutionary War (in which many early settlers of Milford Township served) through the Civil War, World War I, World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, and onward to the Iraq and Afghanistan Wars.
During the Darrtown Bicentennial on July 5–6th, 2014, a monument was erected as a solemn tribute to those who dedicated their lives to service, along with a bench in recognition and appreciation of those who donated and volunteered. The bench reads: "In recognition of and appreciation for all who donated and volunteered / Co-Chairman - Fred Lindley and Ron Wiley / Members - Dale Bueler, Betty Daniels, Jack Daniels, Paul Gillepsie and Joe Pater." Additionally, a 25-foot flag pole, sponsored by the Robert Yeakle "Stars and Stripes" fund, was erected. At its base are bricks commemorating service members. The diamond-shaped monument reads: “On this site, as in the hearts of the people for whom they saved the Nation, the Memory of our veterans is enshrined forever.” The park has another commemorative monument, donated by Richard Bunger, that reads: "Milford Township Memorial Park Established 2014 by the Darrtown Bicentennial Committee and the Milford Township Trustees." The members of the Bicentennial Committee were Dale Bueler, Betty Daniels, Jack Daniels Paul Gillespie, Fred Lindley, Joe Pater, and Ron Wiley,
In 2012, the Township Trustees applied to the US Army to receive a 105 Howitzer cannon for the park; however, none were available. In August 2015, the Army Donations Program called Paul Gillespie and let him know that instead of a cannon, they did have an M-60 Tank that Milford Township could have. In December 2021 the tank was place in the memorial park. Since then, the Iron Horse Tankers inc. 1st Buckeye Battalion and the U.S. Army Brotherhood of Tankers have adopted the tank and repainted it.
Milford Township's deep reverance and gratitude towards veterans are embodied in the park, its flag, and its memorials, showcasing their sincere honoring of veterans and their remarkable contributions to this nation's history.
