Health and Safety

​Who handles law enforcement for the Township?

​Where is the fire department located? 
There are three fire stations in Milford Townshi​p.
  • Collinsville Fire Station: 5107 Huston Road, Collinsville, OH
  • Darrtown Fire Station: 4300 Main Street, Darrtown, OH
  • Somerville Fire Station: 1170 Northern Road, Somerville, OH
Who handles medical EMS for the Township?
In the event of a medical emergency, dial 9-1-1 and the closest ambulance will be dispatched. EMS billing is handled through the City of Oxford and Village of Seven Mile. 
​Is it legal to open-burn in Milford? 
​Per Ohio Revised Code 1503.18
This code prohibits most open burning in unincorporated areas in March, April, May, October and November between 6am and 6pm. Restrictions apply in Darrtown, Collinsville and Somerville due to the close proximity of houses (a burn must be 50 ft from any structure). Backyard fire pits are permissible and must be 15 ft from any structure. 
​WHOm CAN I CONTACT ABOUT ANIMAL/WILDLIFE CONCERNS? ​
  • Residents with animal control concerns (dogs) should contact the Butler County Sheriff Dog Warden at (513) 785-1300.
  • Residents with wildlife concerns should contact the Ohio Department of Natural Resources at (614) 265-6300. 
WHO REMOVES CARCASSES FROM THE ROADS? ​
  • Milford Township road crews will pick up deer on township roads. 
  • Butler County Engineer’s Office will pick up carcasses on county roads. 
  • The Ohio Department of Transportation will not pick up on state roads.
WHAT SIRENS ARE THERE IN MILFORD TOWNSHIP?
​​There are three sirens located on the firehouses in Milford Township. ​Each siren notifies residents of a weather warning. Ambulance sirens, fire truck sirens, and other EMS vehicle sirens will indicate an emergency for their respective departments.

Milford Township is in the Talawanda School District. The high school and middle school are located in Oxford, Ohio. There are three elementary schools, two in Oxford Ohio, and one—Bogan Elementary—in Milford Township. To learn more, visit the Talawanda School District website.

How do I set up Trash Pick Up?​
Milford Township does not provide trash pick up. Please contact Rumpke Waste and Recycling at (800) 828-8171. There is no curbside recycling in Milford Township.
How do I recycle? What items are accepted?​
  • There is no curbside recycling in Milford Township. Instead, there is a centralized recycling drop box in Darrtown.
    • ​​The drop box is located across from The Hitching Post Saloon (4319 Hamilton Richmond Road, Oxford, OH 45056).
  • You can recycle newspapers, magazines, junk mail, phone books, brown paper bags, office paper, cardboard, paperboard (such as cereal boxes), plastic bottles & jugs (remove lids), glass bottles & food jars, aluminum cans, and steel cans and empty aerosol cans (remove tip).​
​DOES BUTLER COUNTY HAVE SPECIAL RECYCLING COLLECTIONS? ​​
​Butler County has permanent locations for recycling various materials, such as household hazardous waste, freon appliances, batteries, and fluorescent lightbulbs and tubes. There are also special events for certain other materials, such as tire recycling and drug take backs. The locations for drop off and dates for special events can be found on Butler County’s Special Collections calendar. ​​
